1. FORMAT
THE TEAM FINISHING LAST IN DIVISION ONE SHALL BE RELEGATED TO DIVISION TWO FOR THE FOLLOWING SEASON.
THE TEAM FINISHING TOP OF DIVISION TWO SHALL BE PROMOTED TO DIVISION ONE FOR THE FOLLOWING SEASON.
TEAM FINISHING LAST IN DIVISION TWO SHALL BE RELEGATED TO DIVISION THREE, WHERE APPROPRIATE, FOR THE FOLLOWING SEASON.
THE TEAM FINISHING TOP OF DIVISION THREE, WHERE APPROPRIATE, SHALL BE PROMOTED TO DIVISION TWO FOR THE FOLLOWING SEASON.
TEAMS IN ATTENDANCE AT THE AGM WILL DECIDE ON THE MAKE UP OF EACH DIVISION TO ENSURE AN EVEN DISTRIBUTION OF MATCHES BETWEEN TEAMS.
NEW TEAMS ACCEPTED INTO THE LEAGUE WILL PLAY THEIR FIRST SEASON’S MATCHES IN THE LOWEST DIVISION.
SHOULD A CLUB WITH MORE THAN ONE TEAM DECIDE TO REMOVE A TEAM FROM THE LEAGUE IT MUST BE THE TEAM IN THE LOWEST POSITION.
2. TEAMS.
A TEAM SHALL CONSIST OF 2 TRIPLES ( 6 PLAYERS).
THERE IS A PROVISION WITHIN ESMBA RULES FOR OCCASIONS WHERE A TRIPLE CAN BE REDUCED TO TWO PLAYERS SO THAT TWO PLAYERS WILL PLAY AGAINST THREE PLAYERS.THE ORDER OF PLAY IS LAID DOWN IN THE RULES OF THE GAME.
3. REGISTRATION.
ALL PLAYERS MUST BE ESMBA REGISTERED.
PLAYER REGISTRATION MUST BE RECEIVED AND APPROVED BY THE LEAGUE SECRETARY BEFORE PLAYING IN A MATCH. WHERE POSSIBLE, THEREFORE, IT IS ADVISABLE TO REGISTER AT LEAST SEVEN DAYS BEFORE A MATCH.
4. TRANSFERS.
A PLAYER WISHING TO TRANSFER HIS/HER REGISTRATION TO ANOTHER TEAM MUST SUBMIT A WRITTEN APPLICATION TO THE LEAGUE SECRETARY WHICH MUST BE SIGNED BY THE PLAYER AND THE SECRETARIES OF BOTH TEAMS.
REGISTRATION WILL BE EFFECTIVE 10 DAYS AFTER PLAYING HIS/HER LAST MATCH FOR HIS/HER PREVIOUS TEAM. PLAYERS MAY TRANSFER ONLY ONCE PER SEASON.
5. MATCHES.
TEAMS MUST INFORM THE LEAGUE SECRETARY 1st JUNE OF DAYS AND TIMES WHEN THEIR HOME LEAGUE MATCHES ARE TO BE PLAYED.
THE DURATION OF THE MATCH SHALL BE EIGHTEEN ENDS.
MATCHES SHALL BE PLAYED ON TWO MATS.
CAPTAINS SHALL MAKE OUT SCORECARDS FOR EACH MAT LISTING THE ORDER THE PLAYERS WILL BOWL. THE DETAILS MUST BE EXCHANGED WITH THE OPPOSITION CAPTAIN BEFORE THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE MATCH. EACH PLAYER SHALL PLAY TWO BOWLS.
TWO PRACTICE ENDS MAY BE BOWLED BEFORE THE MATCH COMMENCES.
SKIPS ARE ASKED TO KEEP THEIR VISITS TO THE HEAD TO A MINIMUM TO SAVE TIME WASTING.
THE GAME MUST START 15 MINS AFTER AGREED START TIME, ONCE THE TWO TRIAL ENDS HAVE BEEN PLAYED NO ADDITIONAL PLAYERS MAY JOIN THE GAME.
WHEN ALL BOWLS HAVE BEEN BOWLED FOR AN END, ONLY NUMBER TWOS ARE ALLOWED ON THE MAT TO DECIDE SHOTS.
JACKS OFF THE MAT - END REPLAYED AND THE END NOT COUNTED EXCEPT THAT AFTER THREE OCCASIONS BY THE SAME TRIPLE THEIR OPPOSITION IS AWARDED THREE SHOTS AND THE END COUNTED.
6. RESULTS.
AT THE END OF THE MATCH BOTH CAPTAINS MUST AGREE SCORERS AND SIGN BOTH CARDS.
THE HOME CAPTAIN IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SENDING THE TEAMS SIGNED CARDS TO THE LEAGUE SECRETARY TO ARRIVE WITHIN FIVE WORKING DAYS.
THE TRIPLE WITH THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF SHOTS ON EACH MAT SHALL BE AWARDED TWO POINTS. IF THE SCORES ARE TIED THEN EACH TRIPLE IS AWARDED ONE POINT.
THE TEAM SCORING THE HIGHEST COMBINE MAT’S SHOTS SHALL BE AWARDED AN ADDITIONAL TWO POINTS. IF THE TOTAL SCORES ARE TIED THEN EACH TEAM IS AWARDED AN ADDITIONAL ONE POINT.
IN THE EVENT OF TWO TEAMS HAVING THE SAME NUMBER OF POINTS AT THE END OF THE SEASON, THE HIGHEST SHOT DIFFERENCE WILL DECIDE LEAGUE POSITION.
THE LEAGUE SECRETARY SHALL RECORD ALL MATCH RESULTS AND SCORE CARDS KEPT TO WHICH TEAM CAPTAIN MAY REFER IN CASES OF DISPUTE.
RESULTS AND LEAGUE TABLES SHALL BE ISSUED TO TEAMS AND SENT TO THE LOCAL PRESS FROM TIME TO TIME DURING THE SEASON, USUALLY ONCE A MONTH.
7. FIXTURES
ALL MATCHES MUST BE PLAYED BETWEEN 1 SEPTEMBER AND 30 APRIL THE FOLLOWING YEAR.
THE HOME TEAM MUST CONFIRM WITH THEIR VISITORS AT LEAST ONE WEEK BEFORE THE SCHEDULED MATCH.
WHERE POSSIBLE FIXTURES SHALL BE ARRANGED SO THAT TEAMS DO NOT PLAY MORE THAN ONCE IN ANY SEVEN DAY PERIOD.
WHERE POSSIBLE FIXTURES SHALL BE ARRANGED SO THAT CLUBS WHO ALSO PLAY OUTDOOR BOWLS ARE NOT TOO INCONVENIENCED IN SEPTEMBER AND APRIL.
IN UNAVOIDABLE CIRCUMSTANCES, WERE BOTH TEAM CAPTAINS AGREE, FIXTURE DATES MAY BE REARRANGED. IF AGREEMENT CANNOT BE REACHED, THE LEAGUE COMMITTEE SHALL DECIDE.
TEAMS FAILING TO FULFIL A FIXTURE WITHOUT REASONABLE GROUNDS WILL BE PENALISED BY THE AWARD OF SIX POINTS AND A SCORE OF 22 – 0 TO THEIR OPPONENTS.
TEAMS REQUESTING A POSTPONEMENT OF A FIXTURE LESS THAN FIVE DAYS PRIOR TO THE MATCH MUST BE PREPARED TO PAY HALL BOOKING FEES IF THEY ARE NOT REFUNDED BY THE HOST VENUE.
8. TROPHIES.
TROPHIES WILL BE AWARDED TO THE CHAMPIONS AND RUNNERS UP IN EACH DIVISION. INDIVIDUAL MEMENTOES WILL BE AWARDED TO 7 PLAYERS OF THE CHAMPIONS TEAMS.
